Dr. Christian Schrader
Christian Schrader, M.D., is an experienced psychiatrist who enjoys helping people improve their life function and working with forensic psychiatry's inherent complexities and challenges in and out of the courtroom setting.
My clinical practice, perspective, and experience have been shaped through 24 years of service in the U.S. Army as a military psychiatrist, medical educator, and professional involved in research and publication in medical journals.
I have been able to work in a wide variety of psychiatric and medical roles - here in the United States, on overseas assignments, and in wartime environments. My foci in life are my family, helping others to heal, and supporting psychiatric education in and out of the courtroom.
We currently live near Austin, Texas, and enjoy ballet and theatre.
Comfortable in court,
an experienced educator
Scientific fidelity, clinical experience, and knowledge of the medical literature are absolute requirements for a psychiatric forensic expert. That’s only one-third of the equation.
Juries and judges are also swayed by how that information is presented. With 12 years of experience as a teacher and a medical educator, I can break down complex concepts in an understandable and relatable way that improves your argument. The story, the concept, and how they are presented improve engagement with those present in court - and are sometimes just as important as the facts at hand.
The courtroom can be stressful for many physicians and experts. I am comfortable on the stand because I have court experience combined with robust clinical medical and research experience to draw from. I have been awarded the top military medical proficiencies available and worked on projects for the Army Office of the Surgeon General. I’ve also delivered direct medical care under fire in deployed environments - it doesn’t get any more stressful than that.
